Testing a PDF for Accessibility

Accessibility allows for as many people as possible to read a PDF document, including those with disabilities. By check a PDF's accessibility, you will be able to serve a wider audience.

How to check a PDF for Accessibility issues:

Provided that you have created your PDF using Adobe Acrobat, there is a tool in Acrobat that can help you check whether your PDF has accessibility issues.

Checking for accessibility is very easy, as you see in Figure 1 below. If you look at the Acrobat toolbar, you'll see that under the "Advanced" tab, there is a choice for Accessibility. If you click on Accessibility, there is another menu that provides several options. Your best bet is to choose "Quick Check" for an overview check, or "Full Check" for a comprehensive review. A report will be provided after the check of items that need to be revised, as needed.
